Sigmund Freud
Before WWI, when these lands were part of the Austro-Hungarian Empire, a poet friend recommended this peaceful and charming corner of Trentino to Sigmund Freud. The “Father of Psychoanalysis” fell in love with the area and chose Hotel du Lac as his favorite summer abode. Here“where the clover blossoms in July" he loved to walk in the woods, hike on the surrounding mountains and take his children to look for mushrooms, as recalls Freud’s son, Walter, in his biographical writings “My father, Sigmund Freud”. This illustrious guest was honored in 1979 with a plaque donated by another illustrious psychoanalist guest of Hotel du Lac, Cesare Musatti.
For the last 20 years Hotel du Lac hosts each July the speakers of “Psychoanalysis’ Frontiers”, annual congress of the Italian Psychoanalytic Society.
