The Lavarone, Folgaria and Luserna Plateaus form an area of 105 square Km ranging in altitude from 1000m to 2000m. The entire region saw famous WWI battles and is dotted with old forts, tunnels, and war cemeteries. It is also the cradle of Cimbrian culture. There are trails for all levels of difficulties and for all sorts of itineraries based on historical, cultural or gastronomic interests.

Here are some figures and details:

50 paths for easy, medium and difficult hikes

17 itineraries in the Nordic Walking Park

Theme trekking, both long and short distance and high mountain trekking (CAI-SAT alpine paths; Forts Trekking that takes through the Seven Austro-Hungarian Forts of WWI; Cimbrian Crossing that connects the Cimbrian Luserna Plateau with Lavarone and Folgaria; Peace Trail that meanders through the battle sites of WWI; European Trail E5, a high altitude, long distance trail)

10 Alpine Huts where to find shelter and rest

Some of the better known peaks of the plateaus are: Cima Becco di Filadonna/Gruppo della Vigolana (2050m), Monte Cornetto (2026m), Monte Finonchio ( 1607m), Monte Maggio (1850m), Monte Pioverna (1750 m), Monte Cimone (1500 m), Cima Campo ( 1520 m), Cima Vezzena (1908 m).

You may also extend the trek all the way to the Venetian Pre-Alps (Monte Pasubio and the Historical 50 Tunnels Road, or Monte Grappa).

All you have to do is identify the trail that suits you in terms of difficulty and interest, then just go. You may choose to go on your own, or you may prefer a guided tour with Alpine Guides or Forestry Guards ( weekly tours organized during the summer).
